What we do
read moreWe offer on-site repairs to doors in the vicinity of our central Queens location. This includes locksmithing, rehanging, new hinges and closers, the repair of top and bottom rolling pocket door hardware, and repairing damaged frames. We can fix damage done by incompetent "locksmiths". We are sorry, but we can no longer service Connecticut or New Jersey. We do not mind answering questions as time allows, for homeowners trying to source material and the proper contractor for their project.
Wood Door Refacing
read moreThis is a two part casement, custom made to exact historic profile, for a Manhattan brownstone. The wood is rift white oak. The rossette was made by us and is close, but not exactly like what had been in the house. Much of the trim and molding we have done can be seen in photographs of cases and doors pictured throughout this site. We have chosen to include some pictures of a few that we feel are special or otherwise significant below. The inset photo shows a pair of typical turn-of-the-century pine doors from Brownstone Brooklyn.
Our Work
read moreDo you have special doors with hard to replicate details that you would like to see preserved? Do they have layers of paint on them? Would you like to see their natural beauty? We can help by taking your doors off site, stripping them, refinishing them and rehanging them. We can also make repairs to your interior doors. Please send picture of your doors to wooddoors@thetinkerswagon.com and we can give you an estimate over the phone. This was a painted five panel door in a house in Westchester. We stripped it (and 5 others) revealing beautiful doors which would be quite costly to purchse today.
