read moreIn March 1964, our church was founded and named "Assemblies of God, Chinese Christian Center" by the husband-and-wife missionary team, Vallance and Lula Baird. The church's early meetings took place in the basement of a former French restaurant at 630 Kearney Street, one block east of Chinatown. After the Bairds led the church for a number of months, David Lim joined in June 1965 and took over the ministry as the pastor of English services. In 1967, he went to Hong Kong to learn Cantonese for 11 months and then returned to serve as Senior Pastor for both the Cantonese and English congregations.
