In 1982, a group of 20 people representing social service organizations gathered together to form the Low Income Healthcare Committee. From the discussions of this group, the Community Health Referral Center (CHRC) was established in 1983. The Board and team of CHRC and the medical community saw that a referral center was not adequate to understand the requirements of the underserved. Starting with one Nurse Practitioner, in addition to the office team, the focus was changed from a referral center to a medical clinic in 1985.

CHC offers affordable primary health care services, including Medical, Medical Walk-in, Dental, Dental Walk-in, and Pharmacy. We welcome patients who are on Washington Apple Health, Medicaid, Qualified Health Plans (QHPs), Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Tricare, select private insurances, and those who are uninsured. For those without insurance, CHC will help patients sign up for Washington Apple Health; if ineligible, we offer a sliding fee discount based on household income and family size.
