BearingPoint's history reaches back more than 100 years to Peat Marwick. After completing an initial public providing in 2001, the firm changed its name from KPMG Consulting to BearingPoint in 2002. In March 2009, BearingPoint started implementing plan to sell substantially all of its businesses to a number of parties. With the sale and wind-down of the firm's operations in North America coming to closure, several entities continue to supply consulting services under the BearingPoint brand in Europe, Latin America and the Asia Pacific region.
