read moreEach year, United Community Centers serves over 1,200 economically challenged families with through our Client Assistance and Advocacy program. Most of these families struggle to provide nutritious meals for their children each and every day; let alone a special meal for the holidays. Approximately 95% of the recipients earn at or below $17,000 annually. With your generosity, those struggling can have the opportunity to provide for their families without sacrificing their precious dollars for basic necessities like a utility bill, filling up their car for gas or necessary medical expenses.

read moreWe recognize that poverty is the cause of many social problems such as school failure and dropout, unemployment and teen pregnancy. Our focus is to create opportunities for people to gain the educational and professional skills that will end their dependency on welfare. Each of our three community centers is located in a neighborhood where more than 90% of the population lives below the federal poverty average of $23,850 per family of four. Our strong history of care and commitment is still evident in the hearts and attitudes of our staff and volunteers today.

read moreUnited Community Centers needs your help to deliver our neighborhood-based services to the children, families and clients we serve. There are several ways you can support our programs. Financial contributions are always welcome and can be directed to overall general operations or to a specific funding category. We also accept in-kind donations of canned foods, clothing, school supplies, and personal hygiene items. A program that encourages youth, age 14 through high school graduation, to stay in school, graduate and make positive life choices. A curriculum-based licensed childcare program that emphasizes literacy skills in our school-aged children.
