About Us
read moreOur clinic participates regularly in the research and development of hearing aids, and we are often chosen by hearing aid manufacturers as a research site for the newest in hearing aid technology. We work closely with a number of hearing aid manufacturers and often perform comparative studies on the effectiveness of these hearing aids. Our audiologists have published more than 40 articles in hearing journals. We were fortunate to be one of the first clinics in the nation to work with digital hearing aids in the early '90s.
Custom Hearing Protection
read moreHearing loss happens for many reasons, one of the most common being exposure to loud noise (noise-induced hearing loss, or NIHL). Repeated exposure to sound levels above 85 decibels (the sound of an idling bulldozer) can cause permanent, irreparable hearing loss. To give you perspective, hearing professionals consider exposure to loud music, either live or through headphones, to be particularly dangerous with sound intensity sometimes reaching 100 to 115 decibels (dB). This is where hearing protection, like earplugs, comes in.
Musician Monitors & Custom Earbuds
read moreThese precision in-ear monitors will be music to your ears at every performance, every time. To perform your best, you need to hear your best. Stage performers are routinely exposed to hearing damage both from amplifiers and the ear monitors that must be turned up to potentially harmful levels just so that they can be heard above the music. Inside-the-ear musician's monitors replace traditional wedge-shaped monitors with precise, isolated sound delivered directly to you, so that you can stay in tune and perform your best.
Captioned Phones
read moreA captioned telephone is a phone that has a built-in screen to display what the person on the other line is saying in text. CaptionCall is a free assistive technology service that helps with landline phone conversations by clearly displaying the spoken words of the individual you're talking to - instantly. Not only does CaptionCall allow you to catch every word of your conversation, but it provides a clear advantage to those who prefer to use landlines while wearing hearing aids. A friend or family member calls your CaptionCall phone through your landline phone number, and you speak to one another normally.
Hearing Care Services in Walnut
read moreHearing impairment affects more than just your ability to hear - it affects your quality of life. Better Hearing Center stresses the importance of an accurate and timely hearing test. Though the common misconception about tinnitus is that it's a disease, tinnitus is actually a medical condition characterized by persistent ringing in one or both ears that can only be heard by the affected individual. Even though it's essential to social, emotional, and cognitive development, hearing is often a sense that's overlooked medically.
Hearing Aid Repairs
read moreEven if you take care of your hearing aids and keep up with regular maintenance, time takes its toll on all technology, and it's possible that yours will eventually wear out through the course of normal use. While replacing your damaged hearing aids may be the best answer in some cases - it gives you the opportunity to upgrade your technology - there are some common hearing aid repairs that you can try if you're having problems with one or both of your devices. The cost to fix a broken or damaged hearing aid varies based on a few things: whether the hearing aid is still under warranty, how damaged the device is, and the cost of replacement parts for your unit.
