Bryans father was a master boat builder in England, and Bryan started working as an apprentice marine engineer at Fawley Shipyard when he was 16. After getting his papers, and working for an additional 7 years at Fawley, Bryan and his wife Ginny cruised the Caribbean for 3 years.
