read moreWagstaff LLP was founded in 1890 by Judge J. M. Wagstaff. Judge Wagstaff grew up in Tennessee, where he began his career as a school teacher. After teaching in Tennessee and Arkansas, Judge Wagstaff moved to Buffalo Gap, Texas, to become president of its thriving Presbyterian College. After serving in that capacity for several years, Judge Wagstaff decided to make the move to Abilene, Texas, to become a lawyer. The City of Abilene was only nine years old at the time. Once in Abilene, he joined Judge D. G. Hill practicing law in the old First National Bank building located downtown.
