Brown Trucking

James W. Brown began out in the trucking business in West Virginia with a dump truck in the mid-1960s, and moved to the Atlanta area in the early 1970's. He began James Brown Trucking Co. With 4 trucks, and formed James Brown Contracting. In Lithonia, GA in 1976. At 1st the firm handled flatbed freight, but in the early 1980's, at the request of the Weyerhaeuser plant director in Lithonia, the firm took over Weyerhaeuser's private fleet operation, hauling corrugated containers in van trailers.
