read moreAfter my son recently purchased his first home built in 1999, he discovered the air condensing units were more noisy than he realized and they were right outside the wall of his office. It turned out they were at the end of their life expectancy and rusting out on the bottom from a leaking sprinkler system which was repaired.
We reviewed online heating & air conditioning HVAC systems and decided on Carrier. His house needed separate upstairs and downstairs systems and the 3 estimates for the combined systems were close and we found it was important to pay attention to the estimate's details which played a part in our decision. After 3 interviews we were most impressed with Gen Mgr Zack of Camino Air who sat down with us and explained everything in detail and then answered all of our questions. He wasn't just the sales person but worked and supervised the men who all wore masks and bootys in the house. It took 2 days to complete the installation of 2 new Carrier Performance Multipoise 90,000 BTU two stage variable speed furnaces with new supply & return vents, Ecobee thermostats and condensers. Zack said the "two stage" 3 & 4 ton 17 Seer air condensing units on vibration reducing pads with a 10 yr warranty outside would be quiet and they are!! The customer service was outstanding !!

read moreI have lived in my home for about 20 years and in San Diego for more than 35 years and in the area I'm in, needing air conditioning has never been an issue except for maybe a few weeks out of the year. But in the past 5 years or more, the heat and humidity have become excessive and last far beyond a few weeks. Last year the heat was particularly brutal and I vowed this year to have air conditioning installed in my home. I even ran into a someone installing A/C at a neighbors house and they gave me a quick quote so I had a basic idea of what it was going to cost me.

A year has passed and I started feeling the heat coming and decided to get this done before it gets too bad and everyone is backed up doing installations. I did some research online regarding the reliability of the different manufacturers and came to a decision about the brand I wanted, but still knew there was much I didn't know about A/C. Fortunately, when my home was built, it was built for central air conditioning. They just didn't install the units so it seemed like it would be a relatively easy job getting it installed once I found a company to do the work.

I initially called the company I met last year doing the installation in my neighborhood. But after having them come to my house, I just didn't have a good feeling with them so I shopped around a bit more until I found Camino Air. For starters, they were very accommodating with their scheduling. My work schedule can be a bit unpredictable but they were very understanding when it came to setting up my home consultation. The owner, Yerevan, came out for the initial visit and unlike other companies, he spent a great deal of time explaining what would work best for my home and answered all of my questions. He was in no rush and seemed to really take his time to make sure I understood everything. Although it was late in the day, he emailed me an estimate that evening and even answered emails over the weekend for questions I had.

A few days later, he came out with his General Manager, Zach, to once again look over everything in my house to make sure everything would work out fine and we scheduled an installation date for a few days later. The day of the installation, they arrived promptly as scheduled. I work in surgery and I would say they are every bit as organized and professional as the best OR team I have worked with. Each had their respective job to do and they went about it without delay. I was amazed they were able to get the entire job completed in less than a day. It did require cutting a couple of new holes in the dry wall, but when they were finished and left my home, I would never have even known they were there if it weren't for the cool air I was now feeling in my home. They cleaned up every area where they were doing work and the place was spotless when they were finished.

When they were done, they showed me how it all operated and didn't leave until I could demonstrate how to use it. They even helped download the app to my iPhone so I can control the system from anywhere with my phone. Yerevan told me "we aren't the cheapest" but when it comes to something this big in my home and how it will affect my life (being comfortable versus being miserable), again I liken it to surgery and I don't want the cheapest. But as far as price, I really think they are in line with just about any other company based upon the quote I received from another air conditioning business. And if they are a little more (and I stress "if") given the incredible and personal customer service they provide, I don't know why you would choose anyone else. Zack had two technicians with him on the installation day and they too were fantastic! Extremely hard working, friendly, courteous and overall very good people; I'm sorry I don't remember their names but they deserve credit as well for the great job installing my new air conditioning. It's a great investment for my home and I know this summer, no matter the heat or humidity, I will be comfortable. If this is the year you are considering getting A/C installed, do yourself a favor and call Camino Air.

Thank you again Camino Air!

read moreWe have separate downstairs and upstairs systems that were replaced by Camino Air earlier this week. So far, so good - we're really liking the Ecobee thermostats - but, of course, the systems haven't been tested yet as the weather has been mild. However, I can already say that both systems are much, much quieter than the ones they replaced.

We had four quotes before choosing Camino. Theirs was easily the most thorough - including new vents and returns, which the other quotes didn't even address. (It's really nice that everything is new and clean!) They gave us quotes on four systems - 14 SEER, one-stage Payne, 16 SEER, one-stage Rheem, 17 SEER, two-stage Rheem, and 17 SEER two-stage Carrier. We choose the Carrier because we're really embracing energy efficiency. (We're also going solar next week!) Of the equivalent systems for which we had quotes, Camino was neither the lowest, nor the highest.

Installation was over three days - two 1/2 days, I guess. Clean up at the end of each day was excellent. Also, the technicians were very considerate as they worked. They fixed a known issued with the duct work in the upstairs system. And I was given a thorough tutorial on how to maintain the systems at the end.

read moreWe just had a new heating and AC unit installed by CaminoAir and it was an AMAZING experience from start to finish! After I called Zack Hamilton was out to our home a couple of days later. We loved his professionalism, knowledge & the quote was very reasonable. We had the installation appointment set up for the very next week. The job took 2 days & Zack and Pepe showed up on time every single day. They laid down floor coverings, kept the house as clean as they could considering they were working in tight crawl spaces & in the attic. They also cleaned up every night before they left for the day. (Shout out to Zack and Pepe).

I highly recommend CaminoAir. Give them a call, you won't be disappointed!

Highly recommended!
Zack and the expert HVAC team at Camino Air recently added dual AC units to the forced air heating system they installed when we first built our Solana Beach home in 2011. I was thrilled to see Zack return 11 years later to install the AC units. All of the work and Carrier systems Zack and crew installed shows the highest attention to quality and care to seamlessly fit the systems into limited spaces. The craftsmanship on both systems is so good it's the first thing I show everybody when they first come to our house!

Fantastic company!
I would like to start off by saying I had my AC unit installed 3 years ago. I still rave ... the best choice was getting recommended to Camino Air

After initial estimate request, Zach came over. He looked all over the house and pointed out which windows were facing the sun in the morning and afternoon. The question he posed was "how cold do you and your wife want this house when outside is 90". The wife replied "like Alaska in the winter!" This was key as a neighbor was sold a smaller AC (chose the cheapest bid) and even when unit is running 24/7 they never are able to cool the house below 78-80.

Zach and his crew did a fantastic installation and we love our ecobee and lil bee.

A year after we had a massive water break and water leaked all over our new AC unit. Zach personally came with his crew, removed the AC unit and after all the repairs and dry out they put it back together to perfection. It's been almost two years and not a problem.

Costs: they are not the cheapest (those cheapest will not make sure your vents are right and your AC unit is large enough to cool you). They are priced normally. This company does not need to advertise because of "word of mouth".
