The Friends of the San Diego Public Library (FSDPL) represent nearly 5000 individuals who join voluntary efforts to support the San Diego City Library System: Central and all Branches. The Friends consistently have made substantial contributions to augment the library's book budget, and it has become an advocacy voice on library issues. The FSDPL is a tax exempt corporation and as the Parent Operations Center overlooks the 35 affiliated branch library chapters.

Over the past several years, FSDPL has been able to contribute to the city's library system gifts-used principally for new books-of over $250,000 annually!
