She is a diplomate, National Certification Commission for Acupuncture, member of the National Sports Acupuncture Association and is National Acupuncture Detox Association certified. Deeply involved in women's health care for over three decades, Phyllis was co-founder of the Portland Birth Center. She apprenticed acupuncture with internationally renowned acupuncturist Duk Su Chang, MD, OMD, LAc; studied Yang style Tai Chi Chuan with Martin Inn and Ben Lo; studied Qi Gong In China with Wu Xing, Cai Jun and Roger Jahnke; for the last 15 years has studied Japanese style acupuncture with Kiiko Matsumoto.
