Postpartum depression (PPD) is an umbrella term used to cover a range of emotional problems that can affect the mother. They include: Baby Blues, Postpartum Adjustment Disorder, Postpartum Depression, Postpartum Anxiety and/or Panic Disorder, Postpartum Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Postpartum Psychosis. Perinatal depression and anxiety can occur during pregnancy and up to the 1st year after the birth or adoption of a baby. It can happen to ANY WOMAN! Age, education, culture and socioeconomic status are irrelevant.
