According to a 2006 release of the Federal Reserve bulletin on family finances, over 46 percent of Americans with credit cards carry a balance month to month. Consumer credit-card debt has almost tripled over the last two decades-from $238 billion in 1989 to $800 billion in 2005(Federal Reserve Board data by Demos, a national research and consumer advocacy group) With the present economy and rising inflation, its no wonder why so many are having problems finding a way to get out of debt.
