Chimes Pharmacy

Chimes Pharmacy has been in existence on College Avenue for nearly a 100 years and continues to serve clients with their prescription requirements. Old prescriptions date back as far as 1909. The current owner, John Gelinas, is only the 3rd owner since the 1930's when the store featured a soda fountain, a lending library, and a liquor department. At one time, Chimes was just one of nearly a half-dozen pharmacies on College Avenue in Oakland and Berkeley between Broadway and the UC Berkeley campus. Chimes is the only remaining prescription store.
