Cogburn Health Center
Rehabilitation Center in Mobile, AL
In 1929 Mrs. Maude Roberts Cogburn graduated from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Mobile. From the stock market crash in 1929 through the ten years of the Great Depression, Mrs. Cogburn was a private duty nurse. It was during these years she developed a preference and skill for care of the elderly. On the eve of World War II in 1939, Mrs. Cogburn leased a house in downtown Mobile where she cared for a tiny number of patients that required 24hr nursing. From that humble beginning, Mrs. Cogburn's vision has grown through three generations.
