Connections Church
read moreThese are powerful words with far-reaching implications. They remind us that God's Kingdom isn't a wish for the future, but a present and ongoing reality! They call our diverse community - liberal and conservative, traditional and not-so-much, young and old - into discipleship that we might be conformed into the image of His Son. And they invite us to join Him in the work He's already doing - bringing His Kingdom (not ours) to bear upon this world. That's our highest hope! That we would be a sacrament of the world's possibility!
Local Missions
read moreDespite pockets of affluence, the Triangle is home to many who are poor, underresourced, and lacking hope. Through growing partnerships with the Raleigh Rescue Mission, Athens Drive High School, and Habitat for Humanity, among others, we are seeking to bring relief, hope, and justice to these individuals and communities. Everyone who calls Ekklesia home is encouraged to serve locally as well as to help lead the church in local mission. While we already have many regular opportunities through our local partnerships, we believe we have only scratched the surface of what's possible!
Children
read moreWe believe our children have gifts to offer and contribute to our community. We invite children to join their families and our congregation during the musical worship portion of our service. We also seek to provide an atmosphere where our children can engage with their peers and learn. For that purpose, we happily serve birth through 5th grade with classes and lessons designed to meet their developmental level. Our kids' church classes take place during our congregational worship service at 10:30 am.
Sermons
read moreIn a previous "Refresh" sermon series, we defined discipleship as "everything we do that shapes our habits and thoughts to be more and more like Jesus." In this message, we discuss how discipleship can become toxic when confined to a narrow part of life. What does a robust whole-of-life discipleship look like? Every January we begin the year with a look back at our first ever sermon series; a series where we tried our best to describe who we wanted to be, using four big ideas. Kingdom, Discipleship, Community and Resources (or generosity).
Youth
read moreIn our youth ministry, we focus on two things: relationship with God and relationship with each other. Through this, we hope to not only prepare our students for life after our youth ministry, but to teach them to love their God and the creation that is around them. These are the main events for our youth, but they are not the only events. We are always trying new things and having new conversations, all while staying centered on our love for God and God's love for us. We take our mission statement from Luke 10:27: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind."
