Dr. John McIntyre has practiced in Corpus Christi since 1984 and opened this practice in 1986. He received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Houston in 1980 and attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1984.

Tears are necessary for maintaining the health of the front surface of the eye and for providing clear vision. The tear film is made up of 3 different components: a mucin layer, an aqueous layer, and an oil layer. Imbalance amongst any of these layers can produce dry eyes. Mucin layer disorders can cause filaments to form on the ocular surface and foreign body sensation. Lacrimal gland inflammation can reduce tear production.
