Environmental Company in Cambridge, MA EcoLogic works with poor, rural communities to assist them become better environmental stewards in order to save their forests and water in ways that improve their living conditions. A community consultation completed recently demonstrated an urgent need for solid waste management plans in three communities along the Gulf of San Miguel in eastern Panama. Currently, there is a lack of proper disposal of organic and plastic wastes, leading to pollution of the communities themselves, nearby mangroves, and the local water provide.

Meliza works with Asociacin de Juntas Administradoras de Agua del Sector Sur de Pico Bonito (AJAASSPIB), one of EcoLogic's local partner organizations in northern Honduras. Her job entails building fuel-efficient cookstoves for rural families to provide them with a stove that requires less firewood than their traditional cooking methods, while still generating enough heat to prepare their meals and morning coffee.

Board of Directors
read moreThe EcoLogic Board of Directors provides oversight, direction, and management in support of our mission and goals. Directors meet quarterly for general business meetings, in addition to convening regular meetings of the Executive Committee and other committees focused on specific issues, such as programming and fundraising. All EcoLogic directors serve in a voluntary capacity, without compensation. EcoLogic also has an Advisory Committee of leaders and experts in natural resource management, environmental conservation, and environmentally and economically sustainable development.

read moreWe consider collaboration and partnership to be one of the defining characteristics of our work. SATIIM collaborates with the indigenous communities of Southern Belize to protect and sustainably manage the 41,855 acres of wetlands and mangrove forests of the Sarstoon Temash National Park. Founder and former Executive Director Gregory Ch'oc, a collaborator with EcoLogic since 1997, has served on EcoLogic's Board of Directors since 2010. A local partner organization is usually a local nonprofit or governance body that is community-based and managed by local people.

read moreBarbara serves as executive director of EcoLogic and reports directly to the board of directors. A member of the EcoLogic team since 2004, Barbara has played a variety of fundraising and program development roles, most recently serving as director of development, managing the organization's fundraising efforts. Prior to joining EcoLogic, she completed the Hydropower Reform Fellowship at American Rivers in Seattle, Washington, which focused on promoting meaningful citizen participation in licensing nonfederal hydropower projects.

It's obvious that everyone really cares about the work they are doing, which makes interning with EcoLogic a very welcoming and rewarding experience. All EcoLogic internships are unpaid, but we are happy to work with your college or university to help interns receive college credit or external funding for their EcoLogic internship. Our internship schedules are flexible within normal business hours, but we will give preference to candidates who can commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for at least three months.
