Emerywood Baptist Church
read moreWe're a church for both the head and the heart, combining passion for the gospel with serious thought about the teachings of the Bible. These create a roadmap for discipleship that we strive to follow faithfully. As we follow them, we are able to connect to others, build relationships and open our lives to God and each other.
Missions
read moreEmerywood Baptist Church seeks to live out a call to serve our neighbor next door and around the world. We believe that the mission of God is best done together and not left up to one group or generation in the church. Emerywood provides financial and volunteer support to many agencies throughout High Point, Guilford County, and around the world. Our missional efforts are divided into 5 categories. Our congregation partners with a number of non-profit organizations around the High Point community to promote sustainable community development practices.
Ministers & Staff
read moreA native of Jones, Oklahoma, Timothy attended Adrian College where he received his B.A. in Religious Studies before earning his Master of Divinity degree from Yale University School of Divinity. Prior to his current role as Senior Minister at Emerywood Baptist Church, Timothy served churches in Michigan, Connecticut, and Texas. When he's not chasing around his horse-size dog, Frankie, you can find him searching for the best pie with his wife Valerie Lott. The beauty of this calling is people continue to allow me in their sacred spaces, whether moments of suffering or joy.
Worship
read moreWhen we come to God in worship, we get a glimpse of who we are created to be. We get a fresh vision of our identity as children of God and are inspired to live out the love and grace we've received. At Emerywood, we each bring our own unique spiritual gifts to worship, striving together to find our voices in a way that is natural and true to our instincts in reaching for and seeking God. Worship includes an intentional mix of clergy and laity, male and female, young and old. This intentional mixture demonstrates weekly the common ground on which we approach the task of worship.
Youth
read moreWe believe that God created us all differently to be different and want to walk through life with you as we learn together to love like Jesus. Sundays look a bit different for the Student ministry at Emerywood. We realize that Sunday morning may not be the best time for you to mentally wrestle with the tough conversations of scriptures sometimes, so the students have small groups that meet throughout the week. Each small group is divided by faith stage rather than grade and on Sunday Mornings we gather around the table to enjoy coffee and breakfast together as we discuss and do life together.
Children
read moreAt Emerywood Baptist Church, we take our commitment to God's most precious gifts as a high calling. Through study, worship, and fellowship, we strive to provide our youngest members with a strong foundation for their faith. We seek to communicate that they are valued, protected, and celebrated by the congregation of the church. Our nursery is staffed by both childcare professionals and volunteers. We provide loving, engaging, and age appropriate nursery care for the children. The nursery is open Sundays from 8:30 to 11am, Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:20 pm, and during various other church activities.
