Carol began understanding the importance of self-healing in Europe, in 1970, when she became sick and did not want to use the hospital. After fasting on whole grains and herbal teas for several months, she went to Boston to study with Michio Kushi, who is a master of earth science in the true sense of understanding the kinetic balance between the yin and yang principles. After two years of intense focus in the macrobiotic community, Carol realized her quest was for something deeper, and she was led to learn meditation from a living master in 1972.
