Churches in New Haven, CT
Churches in New Haven, CT The Evangelical Covenant Church has its roots in historical Christianity as it emerged in the Protestant Reformation, in the biblical instruction of the Lutheran State Church of Sweden, and in the great spiritual awakenings of the 19th century. These three influences have in huge measure shaped its development and are to be borne in mind in seeking to understand its distinctive spirit. The Covenant Church adheres to the affirmation of the Protestant Reformation regarding the Holy Scriptures, the Old and the New Testament, as the Word of God and the only ideal rule for faith, doctrine.

About Us
read moreThe Evangelical Covenant Church desires to see more disciples among more populations in a more caring and just world. In our mission engagement around the world, we are committed to culturally relevant evangelism and the formation of communities of Christ followers, to spiritual formation and equipping God's people for ministry and leadership, and to transformational ministries that demonstrate the whole gospel by seeking to address the spiritual, social, emotional, mental, physical, and justice needs of people.
read moreThe Covenant Ministerium is growing quickly as passionate and qualified individuals join our pastoral community. It is our privilege to strengthen this Evangelical Covenant Church community of vocational ministries through advocacy, endorsement, care, and formation. Additionally, we strive to lift up lay leaders in our local churches to join with local pastors in furthering God's mission.
Start and Strengthen Churches
read moreWe are committed to start and strengthen healthy, missional churches, much like the Apostle Paul started and continued to strengthen churches in the New Testament. We believe the local church is God's foundational strategy to carry out mission in the world. Through planting new churches and providing resources to strengthen existing congregations, these ministries seek to reach more people, in more places, among more populations, with the hope of Christ. This the first in the two-part video series, Vitality // Church Planting.
read moreFrom our inception the Covenant has been concerned with helping hurting people (love mercy), and addressing the causes of that hurt (do justice). The mission of Love Mercy Do Justice (LMDJ) is to "Join God in making things right in our broken world." Our goal is to resource and equip the local church in its call to love, serve, and work together with people at the margins toward holistic individual, family and community transformation.
read moreMake and Deepen Disciples exists to partner with conferences in resourcing local churches to provide intentional pathways for persons of all ages to follow Jesus, grow toward Christ-likeness, and join in God's mission. Our dream is to have an exponential impact by equipping the Covenant to become a community of disciples who make disciples.
read moreWhen new members join a Covenant church, they are asked two questions about belief: "Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior and promise to follow him as Lord?" and "Do you accept the Holy Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, as the word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct?" They are then asked if they intend to live as faithful followers of Christ and members of the church and denomination. But on another level, of course, the answer is a good deal more complex.
