Alexey Fedotov began out as a chef's helper when he was 14 years old. After two years in that position, he enrolled into a prestigious culinary academy in Moscow to study European and Japanese cuisine. He then took up an apprenticeship at the Cosmos four-star hotel and eventually became the executive sous chef.
