About Us
read moreOur philosophy centers around living a better life and becoming a better person in general, first and foremost. Of course safety is a major factor, but we feel as though there are several other parts that should be included in the study of traditional Martial Arts. Many people join the Martial Arts to learn to kick and punch, as they see in the movies or on television. Many quickly become bored or overwhelmed with Martial Arts study because they have not learned what they see in the movies. Unfortunately some students fail to see the difference in reality compared to what is in the movies.

Okinawa Karate Of Twinsburg
read moreThe dogi or what is known as gi for short is not traditionally an Okinawan thing it is influence from mainland Japan that the Okinawan karate community adopted. We have specific rules on how to wear a gi and what color you may wear. The school patch or kanji may be worn on the front left chest of the gi and the shuri te patch between the shoulders on the back after one reaches an advanced rank or has 3 or more years of training with us. These are the only insignia we allowing on our gi's. The embroidery of the kanji on the sleeve is typically black on the white gis and gold on the black gis, though we do allow red on the black gis also.

The gold flower - is the symbol of Japan and one that Nitta Sensei wore on his gi & belt. It was incorporated into the logo in his memory. The Flag of Okinawa - To represent where our karate comes from and the great history of the fighting arts of Okinawa. The 3 kanji of over the flag read "Shuri Te" or "Suidi" in The Okinawan language. This represents the branch of of "Te" we come from.

The island of Okinawa is located south of mainland Japan in between Japan and Taiwan. The bodies of water on each side of Okinawa is the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
