Food Bank Of Rio Grande Valley

The entity that is now known as the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley. Was established in 1983 by Rev. Ted and Martha Knies in Pharr, TX. The Valley had just been hit with a devastating freeze and Rev. And Mrs. Knies wanted to aid the families affected by this event. At that time, it was a food pantry called the Pharr Area Food Pantry and directly served individuals in Pharr and the surrounding countryside. In 1986, the Pharr Area Food Pantry incorporated to become the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.
