read moreI am proud have been selected as your Board President at our annual meeting in June, and would like to congratulate Mary and Tamara on their new positions and welcome Rene and Tina to our board. I have been a Friends volunteer since 2001; I began working in pricing and sorting books, and now help at our monthly book sales. I have also been a board member, serving as a Director-at-Large and as Secretary. You can see me and say hi at the book hold area - I'd love to meet you! I am passionate about literacy and reading; I believe reading can help both young and old through educating the mind, entertaining the spirit, and stimulating the imagination.

read moreThe Friends depend on donations of gently used books, DVDs, CDs, and records to stock our Main Library bookshop and book sales. Some donated items may be added to the Library's collection, but the great majority are sold to raise money for library programs. Please read the donation guidelines below. You can greatly help the volunteers if you donate only saleable books and other media. It takes time, space, and energy to sort out and recycle damaged, outdated, and unsaleable material-typically over a ton of unsaleable books every week.

The Main Library Bookshop, operated by the Friends of the Public Library, is located on the Lower Level of the Main Library at 501 Copper NW. The bookshop features a large selection of current releases, plus DVDs, and CDs (audio books and music). Can't carry all those great buys? Take your selections to the Book Hold and don't touch your purchases again until you pick them up in your car at the library door in the North Alley.

What difference did the library make to you growing up-what difference does it make to you today? Tell your story. Why do you want to see the library funded as fully as possible now and in the future? In the past, a handwritten letter was the gold standard for communicating with elected representatives. Today, email and phone calls are better choices because snail mail undergoes time-consuming examination before it is forwarded to elected officials.
