In 1952, the Jewish Hospital merged with two others in the city-Mount Sinai and Northern Liberties hospitals. Taking on the name of renowned scientist Albert Einstein-who graciously gave his permission -the new network eventually grew to what it is today: a private, not-for-profit organization with several major hospitals, many outpatient centers and numerous primary care and specialty care locations throughout the Philadelphia region.
