Born in New York City, Anthony started his martial arts career at the age of 6 years old, when his stepfather, a black belt in karate and owner of a karate school, introduced Anthony to the arts. Anthony's 1st karate competition was at the age of 7 and he continued training and competing for the next three decades, winning numerous karate, boxing and jiu-jitsu tournaments. Anthony enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1987 and served in Desert Storm from 1990-91 as an Ammunition Technician.
