Mark Freer was born in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from high school Mark pursued a career in music, playing in several bands. Most notably the Sam Lay Blues Band in Chicago, Illinois. Mark became a hippie and was heavily involved in the drug scene. Through the consistent testimony and unconditional love of his father, Mark came to faith in Christ in 1974. Mark met his wife Lu at Concordia Luthren College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lu was instrumental in Mark's receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit which had a transforming impact on his life.

A faithful worship leader magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully combining God's Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God's presence, and to live for God's glory.
