Highland Park Education

High School in Dallas, TX
According to legend, the Viking King Hanken of Norway invaded the Scottish Count of Largs under the cover of darkness. The invading Vikings removed their footwear to silence their advance on the sleeping Scots. During that advance, an unsuspecting Viking stopped on a thistle plant. His cry of pain alerted the Scot Clansmen, who successfully defended their homeland that day. Based on its role as protector of the Scots, the thistle was adopted as the Emblem of Scotland during the thirteenth century reign of Alexander III.

Highland Park Education
read moreMad for Plaid is our annual campaign that engages parents, grandparents, HPHS alumni, HPISD teachers and staff, and the broader Park Cities community to raise support that enables the Foundation to grant critically needed funds benefiting every child in every school in HPISD! The Highland Park High School Alumni Association started the Alumni Awards program in 1989. Since then, we have honored over 50 Highland Park Graduates with this honor at our yearly award ceremony. We also honor former employees of the HPISD school district with the Service Award.

Mad for Plaid is the Education Foundation's annual campaign, which raises public support for HPISD's critical budget needs. Without your support, teachers and students will experience the impact of budget cuts. The HP Education Foundation Leadership Society is the cornerstone of the Mad for Plaid campaign, providing donors with the opportunity to significantly invest in the excellence of HPISD and set an example of leadership that inspires our community of Scots to give.
