On June 16, 1968, Holy Spirit Parish was official - with Father Fiero named as Administrator. Plans for building a church progressed as the dream continued. The spiritual growth of the new parish continued, and the Most Reverend Gerald L. Frey would dedicate the completed building at 4074 Chambers Road on June 14, 1970. But the founding pastor would not live to see his dream become a reality, for on April 7, 1970, Father Fiero was killed in an automobile accident. A memorial Mass was held in the unfinished building on April 8 with almost 600 people in attendance (in a 300-seat capacity church)

We are currently having RCIA classes on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the parish hall. This class prepares the catechumens to be fully brought in the church at the Easter Vigil. Call the office at 478-788-6386 for more information. Our C.C.D. program is designed to provide both Catholic education and spirituality to our young believers. This program is for all children from K-3 through Confirmation who are not enrolled in a Catholic school.

read moreDuties include: reading the introduction before Mass, both readings and the Prayers of the Faithful. We will provide a handbook for each liturgical year. It includes all the readings and their pronunciations and will enable you to prepare for Mass. Their duties include: greeting all parishioners entering the church, collecting the offertory, leading the faithful to Holy Communion, passing out bulletins after Mass and securing the church after everyone has left. This ministry is one of the most important ministries.

It is of critical importance to keep perspective. When Jesus went into towns to heal so many, as Fr. Steve mentioned in his homily today, He did not heal everyone but rather "many." It seems to me that's not a matter of worrying too much about today, but about your our eternal life with God. That life comes sooner than expected for many of us.
