College in Boise, ID In the past 40 years, immigration has dramatically changed the religious landscape of the US. Today, the encounter between people of different religious traditions takes place in our own cities and neighborhoods. In 1991, the Pluralism Project at Harvard University started a pioneering study of America's changing religious landscape. Through an expanding network of affiliates, we document the contours of our multi-religious society, explore new forms of interfaith engagement, and study the impact of religious diversity in civic life.

About Us
read moreHow do we all live together in this society of increasing diversity? That's a critical question of our time, especially in the United States where religious and cultural diversity are present as never before. Encountering that diversity is pluralism. Pluralism isn't just the fact of diversity, but how we respond to it. Diversity can and has meant the creation of religious ghettoes with little traffic between or among them. Today, religious diversity is a given, but pluralism is not a given; it is an achievement.
