We are passionate about our faith and feel strongly about our Christian convictions. However, we are willing to ask questions, to wrestle with difficult issues, and to do so with grace and compassion. We also believe in demonstrating love and respect in all things. As Methodists we have always been known for our emphasis on a personal faith in Jesus Christ that is lived out in concrete ways in the world.

The Christ Child's Nest is an orphanage in Guatemala overseen by two Catholic nuns who provide love and excellent care for these children. Currently, the home cares for over 70 children. IOHUMC is a primary source of funds (through our sponsorship program and the missions budget) for their daily living expenses.

Our rich classroom environment stimulates and challenges children. Our students question, investigate, create and invent. Our program takes what is known as an experimental approach. In other words, children learn by doing. Being a part of the United Methodist Church, we use Safe Sanctuaries. Low student-teacher ratios maximize the learning environment in our classrooms.
