read moreWhen goods are accompanying passengers, it is critical that the approvals are obtained and that the necessary letter is obtained ahead of the arrival of the person, as they will have to be shown to the Customs Officer. This may be done either by having the letters sent to the arriving passengers before they leave their country of residence or by the letters being presented to the Customs Officer by a representative of the receiving institution upon arrival of the persons. Once NET is satisfied with the items and the Donation Form, Invoices and Bill of Laden has been provided, a letter will be issued to the school and/or representative for them to clear the items.
Residency
read moreALL individuals wishing to visit the Consulate are required to make an Appointment - BOOK NOW. The first step in obtaining Permanent Visa status for Jamaica and eventually a Jamaican travel document is to establish residency either through Visa / Work Permit Application or Registration. Persons applying for residency who will require employment to maintain themselves in Jamaica must also apply for a Work Permit. On approval of the Work Permit which is usually based on a job offer, a visa is automatically granted.

read moreALL individuals wishing to visit the Consulate are required to make an Appointment - BOOK NOW. Foreign and Commonwealth nationals who wish to engage in employment activities in the island of Jamaica, whatever the nature of the employment, you are required to obtain a work permit or work permit exemption before entering the country. A work permit is granted at the discretion of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Jamaica. The work permit should be obtained prior to arrival in Jamaica. Visas are issued by a Jamaican Consular official only after confirmation that a work permit has been issued to the applicant.
