High School in Philadelphia, PA
High School in Philadelphia, PA In the late 1800s, several prominent people of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia started to consider the need for a school to educate women of the Delaware Valley. Father (later Bishop) McDevitt and Mrs. Mary McMichan were the leaders in founding five High School Centres in 1901 which paved the way for the building of Catholic Girls High School in 1911. Upon the death of Mary McMichan, the name of the school was changed to John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in honor of her brother, as she requested.

Message from Dr
read moreI have spent the last 100 days getting to know this very sacred space called Hallahan. It has been an exciting time to join this team of motivated and ambitious educators, having had the opportunity to hire 10 new teachers to the faculty, to launch our 100 Steps dual degree partnership with CCP, and of course to welcome the newest members of our community: the class of 2023. The most inspiring moments of these days have been those spent with our young women leaders. In June, our student president, Gabriella Davis, and her team reached out to meet over the summer to plan out their own leadership for the year.
Careers
read moreThe men and women working within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia play a special role in furthering the mission of the church and serving the spiritual and temporal needs of the community. Many employees say they enjoy working for the Church because they quickly feel part of a community of good, friendly and talented people. They are also conscious that no matter what role they have, in working for the Church they are helping to advance the mission of the Church, which is to spread faith in Jesus Christ.
