Jong Susan Dr
read moreVision is one of the most precious senses we have, and living life with impaired vision is difficult and often frustrating. Dr. Susan Jong, a life-long Louisianan, grew up in Lake Providence working in her family owned business. After undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), she received her doctorate degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1979 where a strong interest in vision therapy developed. I am not dizzy or nauseous with either pair. I like how I can use either pair for mid-distance.

Genetic and eye health conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, low vision, and other conditions can cause reduced or limited vision, and there is little that can be done medically or surgically to correct the issues or restore vision in a significant way. However, with vision therapy, patients have a brighter outlook on their visual capacity than ever before.

Unfortunately, eye problems associated with this activity are also on the rise. Even if you have never had eye problems before, you may have noticed computer vision syndrome symptoms after two or more hours of screen time. Even if your symptoms are mild, they can worsen and cause other vision problems if not addressed. Our optometrist, Dr. Jong, can help. The severity and length of computer vision syndrome symptoms depends on how long you stare at the computer, your posture, lighting, glare, the angle of the monitor, and whether or not you have other diagnosed or undiagnosed vision problems.

Vision therapy is a form of physical therapy used on the eyes and brain. It is designed to resolve vision problems that can contribute to learning disabilities. This therapy can also be used an effective treatment for problems like lazy eye, crossed eyes, or double vision. It uses progressive vision exercises performed under the supervision of your eye care provider. Each set of exercises is tailored to meet the individual visual needs of a patient.
Body Awareness
read moreBefore starting a Vision Therapy program with our office, we ask each patient to complete a Body Awareness Assessment. We ask the person to "draw a picture of what you think you look like". No other guidelines or suggestions are given. Once the patient has completed therapy, we have them draw the picture again. It's incredible to see the before-and-after Body Awareness Assessments we receive from patients after completing a Vision Therapy Program. Because we know vision doesn't just mean the eyes.
