Founderread moreIm Michelle, founder and creator of Juniper Calligraphy. Lucky to live in Honolulu, Hawaii, where my dog never forgets to take me on a daily run.
Prior to doing calligraphy full time, my formal career training was in nursing where I studied at Hawaii Pacific University. I was a home care nurse, then a school nurse. Then I worked as medical-surgical float nurse at a local hospital for the past 5 years. Since then, I have received my masters in nursing administration from the University of Phoenix.
While I was content in healthcare, I always felt like the artistic world was calling me. So, I started Juniper Calligraphy in 2018. I made wooden signs/ornaments with acrylic calligraphy and illustrations. I sold them on Etsy, weekend markets, and in local stores like Flotsam and Co. Then I moved into the wedding industry.
This is where my calligraphy took off. I got commissioned for large signs, invitation design, envelope addressing, then to corporate gift calligraphy, large installation calligraphy design, and on-site calligraphy for luxury brands and events.
My years as a registered nurse has taught me what it takes to represent a company and provide guests with positive experience and customer service. I am very passionate about my work as a calligrapher and designer. I truly enjoy designing pieces that fit the brand, event, or theme.
