This was a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, parallel trial to investigate the effectiveness of spinal manipulation compared with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and with placebo for acute nonspecific low back pain. A total of 101 patients with acute low back pain were recruited. Exclusion criteria were numerous and strict. The subjects were randomized to 3 groups: (1) spinal manipulation and placebo-NSAIDs; (2) sham manipulation and NSAIDs; or (3) sham manipulation and placebo-NSAIDs.
Auto Accident Injury
read moreThe most common injuries associated with auto accidents are sprains and strains of spinal muscles and ligaments, but pain is often delayed. Maybe you have tried to learn to live with the pain or taken medication to mask it. When the pills cover up the pain, some people think, "If I can control my condition with pills, it must not be too serious." Although pills can mask or numb the pain, they do nothing to help the underlying problem, and the damage can continue to get worse with time. But there is a simple way to get on the road to recovery!
Patient Results
read moreKhalsa Chiropractic in Portland, Oregon publishes the results of our data in order to assist patients with health care decisions. For comparison purposes, we have also provided information regarding chronicity rates for medical management. The Institute of Evidence-Based Chiropractic designed and supervised the data collection, performed data analysis and produced this report. The patient data for this study was captured at least one year after the discharge visit. The results of medical research studies show that 7 to 34% of medical patients with an acute attack of back pain will still have severe back pain with substantial activity limitations 1 year following the onset.

We feel this allows you to become more informed and involved in controlling your own health. How long will therapy take? Massage
read moreMany doctors and medical researchers are now realizing the benefits of massage in the care of their patients. Some types of massage provide a general short-term feeling of relaxation, while others are designed to have longer-term therapeutic effects. The health benefits of massage include muscle relaxation, improved flexibility, reduced pain and better circulation. Additionally, massage diminishes stress, anxiety and depression. To get the most out of your massage, make sure you have a complete evaluation and explanation of the technique(s) that will be used.
