Diagnostic testing may be required to arrive at an accurate diagnosis, substantially increasing the likelihood of curative treatment. Diagnostic testing options are determined by the physical examination, patient history, and tests already completed. In most cases a specific diagnostic test is required for a specific diagnosis. Unfortunately, an MRI is not the diagnostic gold standard for all cases. A definitive diagnosis will result in a much higher probability of resolution of the problem.
