Leblanc Ken S

Dentist in Lafayette, LA
Dentist in Lafayette, LA With a touch of Southern Hospitality, Dr. Ken S. LeBlanc and his team welcome patients to the practice. Situated in the middle of Cajun country, Dr. LeBlanc carries on the tradition of quality dental service that his father, Dr. Andrew LeBlanc, started over seventy years ago. Upon entering the practice, patients may feel a sense of the Old South in the furnishings and decor, but in no way is it an old-fashioned practice. This is where cosmetic dentistry has become an art. Just as a gourmet chef requirements the proper ingredients and cooking utensils to build a savory souffl and a painter requirements the correct canvas, brushes.

Bridges
read moreBefore all-porcelain bridges were available, all that was possible was a dull or metal-tinted smile. With the strong, natural-light translucent materials that Dr. LeBlanc now uses, you can have a healthy, long-lasting, confident smile. Porcelain-fused-to-gold and other metal-based bridges did not have the reflective and translucent impact that these new, all-porcelain bridges have. We can explain how the new porcelain/ceramic dental materials have changed dentistry and can transform your smile.
Bonding
read moreCosmetic dental bonding is one of the simplest procedures for our patients. Usually, little or no tooth structure removal is required, and in one visit you can have a wonderful new smile. However, understand that the artistry involved in crafting a great new smile with this material is extensive. Dr. LeBlanc's smile artistry speaks for itself. The bonding material fuses to your teeth, producing a strong and durable bond, almost like your natural enamel. Spaces in your smile can be eliminated and your teeth lengthened, using this bonding material to contour a new smile.
Panorex
read moreA panorex is a very impressive piece of imaging machinery in that it is capable of identifying many issues and structures that a normal x-ray is not. Initially you will sit in a chair with your chin on a small ledge. Once positioned in the machine, it will rotate around your entire head taking a full 360 degree view of the teeth, head, sinuses and bones. The ability to view the full structure of your head as a whole is very informative to the dentist. It will allow us to see any potential problems and make sure that everything is functioning as it should be.
Cavities
read moreDecay is caused by the build-up of a sticky film called plaque on the teeth. Plaque contains bacteria that feeds off of carbohydrates (starches and sugars) in the mouth. As the bacteria is feeding it produces acids that attack the tooth surface (enamel). If the plaque is not removed it continues to build up creating more acid that attacks the tooth enamel. As the enamel continues to be weakened, decay is able to set in and destroy the enamel. There is typically no pain when a cavity is just in the enamel but as it progresses to the underlying soft pulp layers where the nerves are located, you begin to feel pain.
Scaling
read moreScaling refers to the process of removing plaque and tarter build-up above and below the gum line. Our hygienists use a special tool to carefully and gently remove the build-up that brushing and flossing can't. If the plaque and tarter are not removed and allowed to build up it can lead to more serious problems such as gum disease.
Veneers
read morePorcelain veneers, preferred by many of our patients because of their ability to close spaces, increase length, create maximum whiteness and straighten teeth, are also very durable. Deep, tetracycline stains are also removed from a smile with this procedure. Veneers can sometimes help bypass orthodontic treatment. In as short as two visits, you can have a smile that reflects your inner confidence. Looking for a solution for discolored, uneven, or chipped teeth? Want to close that small stubborn gap that has made you spend years without smiling?
Tmj
read moreTMJ is the initialism for temporomandibular joint, which connects your lower jaw (the mandible) to your skull at the temporal bone. This joint controls many jaw functions, like chewing. If the chewing muscles or the joint itself are causing you pain you may have temporamandibular disorder, or TMD. TMD can be caused by stress, continual clenching of the jaw muscles, or teeth grinding. Many of these symptoms can often be associated with other health problems, so only a medical professional can tell you if it is due to TMD.
