The inception of the club was in the early 1900's when a golf course was built near 17th and Walnut Streets. It was known as the Allentown Golf Club. As interest in golf grew, a group decided to establish a new 9 hole course and clubhouse in the area known as Rittersville. The reason for the location range between Allentown and Bethlehem was the number of members from Bethlehem and Catasauqua areas. In 1910 the name of Lehigh Country Club came into being. The golf course and clubhouse were completed in 1912, and by 1917 the membership totaled 456.

Eminently walkable, Lehigh features some very dramatic topography and changes of elevation of 105 feet from the lowest point on the golf course to the highest. The design has a collection of some of the best green sites Flynn ever conceived. With three sets of tees ranging from 5500 to 6600 yards and playing to a par 70, Lehigh offers plenty of challenge and enjoyment to all levels of golfers.
