Churches in Irvine, CA
Churches in Irvine, CA I want to welcome you to this web page and I would like to introduce myself and this church. This church is unlike any other. We do not believe in sitting around and being comfortable. We try new things and we're not afraid of failure. We seek adventure! We're not weirdos or wimps. We want to laugh and we do not take ourselves too seriously. One thing that sets us apart is the Sunday morning message. Most pastors preach for 45 minutes - or more! Not me. The sermons here are no longer than 15 minutes long.

About Us
read moreWe have two modified worship services on Sunday mornings. The first is at 8:00am and the second is at 10:30am. Everyone asks what the differences between the two services are and here is what we tell people. 8:00 am: This is our "Traditional Service". We sing hymns accompanied by the organ, follow the liturgy, and the pastor will 'robe up'. The service currently runs about 45 minutes. 10:30 am: This is our "Contemporary Service". We sing praise songs and hymns accompanied by guitars and vocals.
What We Believe
read moreWe believe in the one true God, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Spirit. We believe that humankind, created perfectly, went against God's will and brought sin into the world. Since then, all people have inherited that sin and are born sinful. We believe that people cannot save themselves by their good works. We believe that in order to save us, God sent His Son into the world. Jesus is both true God and true man. He lived to fulfill God's Law for us, died on the cross to pay the penalty that our sins deserved, and rose from the dead so that we might have eternal life.
Church Structure
read moreThe two leadership groups in the church are the Board of Elders and the Council. The Board of Elders is responsible for the Spiritual well-being of church members and the pastor. The Council looks after the business of the church. Both are necessary and the people who serve in these roles are dedicated Christians who want to serve Jesus Christ. One of your roles as a member will be to attend voter's meetings- held once or twice a year. The council will bring business items to the congregation (annual budget, loan items, major purchase items) for congregational feedback and support.
Opportunities To Serve
read moreThere are many ways for you to serve God by serving through the church. Help is needed in all areas; from help during the worship services to volunteering with Sunday School and everything in between. Contact the church office if you are interested in volunteering at church. Our current volunteer focus is our partnership with Salvation Army. We will be presenting multiple opportunities to serve throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering on a consistent basis, there are many positions that need to be filled at the Salvation Army campuses.
Why Membership
read moreA. Membership says, "I accept responsibility for a group of fellow believers in the family of God, " and that's God's plan as well. You want to be part of a group of believers who pray for each other, support each other and help each other grow through worship, Bible study and ministry. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. B. Membership says, "I am accountable to mature believers in Christ for my walk with God." Christians want to receive guidance, equipping and help as necessary to remain on target.

Please contact the pastor or the Elders if you would like to be included in one of these classes. 2. The next step will be to read the membership packet, you can download it and view it on the web. 4. Once the catechism class is completed, your membership will be finalized with an announcement to the congregation.
Youth Ministry
read moreThe doctrine of the Trinity is a head scratcher. Many Christians are taught that this is a "mystery" that they just have to intellectually believe is true, but then are left wondering how this important teaching in the Bible relates to their daily Christian faith. C.S. Lewis in his foundational work, Mere Christianity, talks about the importance of understanding the Trinity, intellectually, but also how this important Christian teaching impacts our spiritual life. On Sunday, January 10 during the Sunday School hour, Rev. Jonathan Ruehs, (assistant professor of theology at Concordia University and assisting pastor at Light of Christ) will be discussing how Lewis intellectually conceptualized the Trinity, and how his intellectual model directly impacts the nature of our Christian spirituality.
