Kathi studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in San Francisco, CA, under Julliard graduate, Mac McCray. Before that, Kathi performed, traveled and recorded in a contemporary christian band as keyboarist and background vocalist. Kathi began teaching private piano and voice lessons while at the Conservatory, and found that she really enjoyed it. In 1989, she found herself with so many students, she decided to hire several of her advanced adult students to aid teach, and thus Melody Music Studios was began.
