Metro Antiques
read moreLibraries do a lot these days. So does METRO. We were founded in the 1960s to deliver books between libraries. We still deliver books, and we also host digital collections, give out technology grants, house a digital media studio, and more. METRO is committed to supporting libraries, in whatever form that takes. As of December 1, 2020, METRO will be an entirely remote organization. We will miss working together at 599 11th Avenue, but we know good things are on the horizon. Stay in touch with us about our upcoming events, grant programs, and other initiatives by signing up for our discussion list.
About Us
read moreWe're a non-profit organization where New York's libraries and archives come together to learn, share ideas, and collaborate. We work with our membership to develop and maintain essential services throughout New York City and Westchester County. All of METRO's services are developed and delivered with broad input and support from an experienced staff of library professionals, the organization's membership, an active board of trustees, and advisory councils. METRO is the largest of nine reference and research resource councils, known as the Empire State Library Network (ESLN), in New York State.
Hospital Library Services Program
read moreThe METRO Hospital Library Services Program (HLSP) supports the work of more than 65 hospital and medical center libraries in New York City and Westchester County. We seek to develop, enhance, and improve the delivery of healthcare information between member libraries and health care professionals. For information on joining HLSP or for questions related to any of our grant programs, please contact Timothy Johnson at [email protected]. Collection development grants are available to METRO's Hospital Library Service Program members.
New York Digital Media Studio Services
read moreOpened in March of 2017, The METRO Studio is an architectural and programmatic instantiation of a digital library in physical space. We offer tools and resources that empower our members to create, preserve, and share media assets. Our activities are focused on the digitization, description, and presentation of cultural heritage materials. The METRO Studio makes the labor and the communities associated with archiving and preservation visible, legible, and accessible. Our space itself is a platform for action so that participants can organize to create their own community narratives.
