We work to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions and achievable, innovative strategies for healthy living in healthy communities. We optimize outcomes and impact as a statewide clearinghouse for data, for communication across multiple platforms, and for best practices that help people eat healthy and move more.
About Us
read moreIn 1994, the Michigan Fitness Foundation (MFF) was created as a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization to collaborate with the Michigan Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports. MFF plays a vital role in promoting the health of Michigan's citizens by working in conjunction with the executive office and state agencies plus other nonprofits and corporate partners. As a trusted convener and recognized organization with a presence in all 83 Michigan counties, we are well positioned to bring together thought leaders and mission-aligned organizations.
Our Impact
read moreWith genuine collaboration among the public, private, and nonprofit sectors plus a collaboration with communities, we know it is possible to improve the quality of life for Michiganders. Through our programming, we have evidence that supports direct and indirect health outcomes of individuals and communities. Since our inception, we have used evidence-based models aimed at systemic and sustainable behavior change. The numbers below reflect one year of work within our Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) programs, Safe Routes to School grants and the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance initiatives.
Our Work
read moreThe Michigan Fitness Foundation (MFF) advocates for the health of Michigan's residents. Our programs and services are focused on food, nutrition, and physical activity as well as the places that allow Michiganders to eat well and be active. Always using the lens of health equity, our programs and services support making healthier choices easier choices for residents of all ages. With the word "fitness" in our name, our link to physical activity is intuitive. We began as an organization dedicated to bringing sound physical education to the school children of Michigan.
