Mt Calvary Baptist Church
Churches in Pompano Beach, FL
Records of the District Association establishes that Mount Calvary was organized in 1902. A tiny Bush Harbor of the Florida East Coast Railroad was utilized for a meeting place. Reverend Brown (known as Little Brown) became the 1st pastor. Later the church moved to a tiny frame house on Third Avenue, now known as Esther Rolle Avenue. Services were held there until a parcel of land was donated by the Model Land Company; at which time a tiny frame church was erected on the site.
