Almost all of the advanced water treatment technologies are relatively modern. The motivation for developing these technologies normally is two-fold: better performing, easier-to-use, more environmentally friendly systems on one hand and at the same time be cost effective on the other hand. It is the water treatment specialists responsibility to always use advanced water treatment technologies whenever possible. Chemicals are conspicuously absent from the technologies reviewed here. They fail in almost all categories by which to judge advanced technologies.
