Our community is in pain - suffering in a very public way at the hands of a nation that inflicts violence against Black Americans, usually without consequence. We're thrilled to be included again this year in Willamette Week's Give! Guide! This is our 14th year in the Give! Guide, and every year it gets bigger and better.for the participating nonprofits, for donors, and for our city.

read moreNorth by Northeast Community Health Center was opened as a free clinic in 2006 by a physician and a pastor to address the unmet health care needs of Black Portlanders. Over the past fifteen years we have grown tremendously in response to ongoing community need. We are seeking our next Medical Director - a board certified primary care physician with a heart for the community and a commitment to anti-racism and clinical excellence - to succeed our founding Medical Director, Dr. Jill Ginsberg, when she retires.

read moreMichele Babaie is an internal medicine physician who has worked in underserved settings since graduating from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1997. She trained at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, a county facility serving uninsured patients, for four years, before working as a primary care physician for a non-profit in Los Angeles for six years. Dr. Babaie started volunteering at North By Northeast in 2009 and jumped at the chance to join our staff in 2016. When not at North by Northeast she volunteers in her sons' school, enjoys indoor rock climbing and spends time training her son's autism service dog.
