Back in 1957, Lyle Burgess operated a wheel alignment service, and soon realized how difficult it was to get the steering and suspension parts he needed. He discovered that the industry lacked a steering and suspension part manufacturer that offered complete coverage. Parts were becoming obsolete. He felt that he wasn't the only shop around with this problem. Because of the poor availability of steering and suspension parts, Lyle's ultimate desire was to have every part available, every time. This vision drove him to create Rare Parts in 1981.
