Redeemer Lutheran Church was officially organized with sixty-five charter members in December of 1962. At the time, they were holding worship services at Peterson's Barn, situated on Janss Road near what is now Freeway 23. In March of 1963 the Rev. Rodney Lensch was installed as the 1st pastor of Redeemer. In February of 1965, the long-awaited groundbreaking worship service took place with the aid of the Mission Board that granted a loan of $120, 000 to develop a chapel and an education building.
